What is HPAIR?
Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations (HPAIR) is a prestigious non-profit organization affiliated with Harvard University, founded in 1991. Over the years, HPAIR has been at the forefront of organizing student-led international conferences that feature globally renowned speakers. These conferences serve as a platform to unite students and young professionals from around the world, fostering in-depth discussions on critical economic, political, and social challenges within the Asia-Pacific region.
What is ACONF?
Annually, HPAIR hosts two conferences. The first is held at Harvard University, and the second is located in an Asian-Pacific country, referred to as the Asia Conference (ACONF). Bidding for the privilege to organize ACONF is open to potential organizing teams from the Asia-Pacific region. Each year, one of these bidding teams is selected to host ACONF, exemplifying the organization’s dedication to fostering international dialogues and engagement. This year, CU-HPAIR team, led by Chulalongkorn University students, has been chosen as the host. Consequently, the upcoming ACONF will take place at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Conference Theme
This year, our focus revolves around the theme of “Reimagining Connectivity: Building Bridges in a Globalized Society.” We seek to delve into the intricate interplay between various global challenges and regional dynamics, emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive, holistic solutions. Our objective is to foster mutual understanding, strengthen connectivity, and encourage cross-sector collaboration and creativity, all aimed at paving the way for a brighter future in an ever more interconnected world.
Target Group
The event aims to bring together a diverse audience, expecting 350 to 450 attendees from various fields. Participants will come from different parts of the world and may comprise university students and working professionals seeking idea exchange and networking opportunities.
Main Activities
Speaker Session: The Speaker Session serves as the primary platform bridging today’s leaders with the future generation. Renowned figures from diverse fields are invited to share their insights and experiences at our event, providing our delegates with the invaluable opportunity to learn directly from them. While the primary format revolves around moderated Q&A sessions, the format may also include keynote addresses or panel discussions.
I-Night: I-Night is a chance for any delegate that wishes to perform any act representative and embodies their cultural heritage. The event will be a series of continuous performances for all delegates at the conference to enjoy and celebrate everyone’s diverse backgrounds together. This night is dedicated to showcasing diversity, culture, and promote a pleasurable experience for all that are involved.
Cultural Fair: The Cultural Fair features multiple booths organized by delegates and CU-HPAIR staff, each offering immersive cultural experiences tailored to delight and educate delegates.
HPAIRx: HPAIRx offers an exclusive opportunity to our delegates, enabling them to step onto the stage and deliver impactful, concise talks lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, centered around topics that resonate with their passions. This initiative seeks to foster a dynamic environment in which delegates assume the dual roles of enthusiastic knowledge conveyors and receivers.
Impact Challenge: Delegates will be organized into teams to address the challenges presented by our sponsors. Subsequently, each team will present their innovative solutions to our sponsors, who can then implement these ideas in the real world. This provides an excellent opportunity for delegates to collaborate with international colleagues, sharing their unique experiences and expertise. By connecting with our esteemed professional network, delegates have the chance to showcase their exceptional talents and contribute to cutting-edge projects.
